How To Install Syncthing 0.10.26 On Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.10, Ubuntu 14.04 And Derivative Systems

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Syncthing is an open-source software that allows the users to easily synchronize files and directories between different computers in a secured and encrypted manner. The application has only a Web UI, so we need the browser to do our Syncthing tasks.

The latest version available is Syncthing 0.10.26, which has been recently released, coming with the below changes:

  • Silence discovery warnings when v6 not available
  • Make sure we start scanning at an indexed location
  • Add missing translation strings
  • Allow not to limit bandwidth in LAN
  • Remove red if we managed to report to atleast one discovery server
  • Compress only metadata by default
  • Don’t yell about discovery listening and resolving
  • Fall back to %AppData% if %LocalAppData% is blank

In this article I will show you how to install Syncthing 0.10.26 on Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet, Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Pinguy OS 14.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Deepin 2014, Peppermint Five, LXLE 14.04, Linux Lite 2 and other Ubuntu derivative systems.

Because it is available via PPA, installing Syncthing 0.10.26 on Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.10, Ubuntu 14.04 and derivative systems, all you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the syncthing package. Like this:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ytvwld/syncthing
