Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Teamviewer is a freeware software for remote control via the internet. For Linux, Teamviewer includes a bundled version of Wine, so the users do not need to install wine by hand.
The latest stable version available is TeamViewer 10, which has been released a while ago, coming with performance optimizations, a master whitelist, chat history and persistent chat groups, one click video calls, support for 4K displays, real time session notes, integration with Dropbox, Google Drive and a new app for BlackBerry.
In this article I will show you how to install TeamViewer 10 on Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Deepin 2014, Peppermint Five, LXLE 14.04, Linux Lite 2.0 and other Ubuntu derivative systems.
Follow the instructions for your system and architecture exactly, in order to get a successful installation.
How to install Teamviewer 10 32 bit Ubuntu 14.10, Ubuntu 14.04 and derivative systems:
$ sudo apt-get install gdebi
$ wget download.teamviewer.com/download/teamviewer_i386.deb
$ sudo gdebi teamviewer_linux.deb
How to install Teamviewer 10 64 bit Ubuntu 14.10, Ubuntu 14.04 and derivative systems:
Note: On newer 64-bit DEB-systems with Multiarch-support teamviewer_linux_x64.deb cannot be installed because the package ia32-libs is not available anymore on these systems. In this case we have to use the teamviewer_linux.deb instead.
$ sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install gdebi
$ wget download.teamviewer.com/download/teamviewer_i386.deb
$ sudo gdebi teamviewer_linux.deb
To remove Teamviewer, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove teamviewer*
