In this article I will show you how to install Texmaker 4.2 on Fedora 20, Fedora 19, OpenSUSE 13.1, OpenSUSE 12.3 and Mageia 4.

Because it is not available via any repository or PPA, we have to download the texmaker rpm package from the project’s site and install it via command-line.

Follow the instructions for your system and architecture exactly, in order to get a successful installation.

How to install TexMaker 4.2 (Qt4) on Fedora 20 and derivatives:

Instructions for 32 bit systems:

$ wget xm1math.net/texmaker/texmaker_fedora20-4.2-xm1.i386.rpm
$ sudo yum localinstall texmaker_fedora20-4.2-xm1.i386.rpm

Instructions for 64 bit systems:

$ wget xm1math.net/texmaker/texmaker_fedora20-4.2-xm1.x86_64.rpm
$ sudo yum localinstall texmaker_fedora20-4.2-xm1.x86_64.rpm

Optional, to remove texmaker, for both 32 bit and 64 bit systems, do:

$ sudo yum remove texmaker*
