Download the needed packages:

$ wget -c kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.4.53-quantal/linux-image-extra-3.4.53-030453-generic_3.4.53-030453.201307131519_i386.deb

Install the Linux 3.9.10 Kernel on 32 bit systems and update the grub:

$ sudo dpkg -i *.deb
$ sudo update-grub

Instructions for 64 bit Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Debian.

Install the Linux 3.9.10 Kernel on 64 bit systems and update the grub:

$ sudo dpkg -i *.deb
$ sudo update-grub
