Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, VLC is one of the most popular media players for Linux.

The latest version available is VLC 2.2.0 “Weatherwax”, which has been recently released, bringing a new feature that automatically detects the orientation of video so that you can rotate the video, got support for Digital Cinema Package, improves the Blu Ray native support via libbdplus and comes with improvements on video in Ultra HD.
Also, a new plugin and extensions manager has been created, for the addons.videolan.org.
In this article I will show you how to install VLC 2.2.0 on Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet and Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn.
Because it is available via PPA, installing VLC 2.2.0 on Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.10 and derivative systems is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the vlc package. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:videolan/stable-daily
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install vlc
Optional, to remove vlc, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove vlc
