Hello Linux Geeksters. In this article I will show you how to install VMWare Player on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander and Linux Mint 16 Petra. As you may know, VMWare Player is a popular virtualization software, working on both Linux and Windows. To install VMWare player on Ubuntu 13.04/12.10/12.04 and Linux Mint 15/14/13, see the instructions here.

VMWare Player is very good for testing different operating systems, in order to decide if you install them or not. I use it a lot.
Installing VMWare Player on Ubuntu and Linux Mint is easy, all you have to do is:
1.Install the needed packages:
sudo apt-get install build-essential linux-headers-$(uname -r)
2.Download VMWare Player, for your system’s architecture
3.Set execution permissions:
$ sudo chmod +x ~/downloads/VMware-Player-*.bundle
4. Execute the VMware Player installation script, and follow the (next next next finish) GUI instructions:
$ cd ~/Downloads
$ sudo ./VMware-Player-*.bundle
This is it. Enjoy your virtualization.
