Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, the fifth release candidate of Wine 1.6 has been released yesterday.

Because it is in the “code frozen period”, it does not get new features, only bugfixes. Wine 1.6 RC5 comes with 54 fixes since the previous version, Wine 1.6 RC4.
In this article I will show you how to install Wine 1.6 RC5 on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia and Linux Mint 13 Maya.
Wine 1.6 RC5 will be added soon (in a few days maximum) in the ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa PPA, so installing it on Ubuntu and Linux Mint is easy. All you have to do is:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install wine1.6 winetricks
