Hello Linux Geeksters. Xnoise is a free music and video player, available for Ubuntu and Linux Mint. Xnoise is a player based on GTK and written in Vala. It has a simple interface, where you can search for music, queue the songs in the tracklist and play them.
The latest version available is Xnoise 0.2.21, which has been added released a while ago, coming with both fixes and improvements.
In this article I will show you how to install Xnoise 0.2.21 on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia, Linux Mint 13 Maya and Elementary OS 0.2 Luna.
Because it is available via PPA, installing Xnoise 0.2.21 on the listed Ubuntu, Linux Mint and Elementary OS systems is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the xnoise package. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:shkn/xnoise
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install xnoise
