HPLIP 3.13.8 has been recently released a while ago. As you may know, HPLIP comes from HP Linux Imaging and Printing, the generical Linux drivers for the HP printers.
The new HPLIP drivers comes with some bugfixes and brings support to some new printers (from the changelog):

- HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3540 e-All-in-One Printer Series
- HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3545 e-All-in-One Printer

Installing HPLIP 3.13.8 on Linux systems is easy, because it comes as a precompiled binary, all the user has to do is add execution rights and execute the .run file, like this:
$ wget -c http://sourceforge.net/projects/hplip/files/hplip/3.13.8/hplip-3.13.8.run
$ sudo chmod +x hplip-3.13.8.run
$ ./hplip-3.13.8.run
This guide is generical, the instructions work for the most popular Linux systems, including Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Debian, Fedora, OpenSUSE, Mageia, Arch Linux, Elementary OS, Deepin, Knoppix, Crunchbang OS and many more.
