Entangle 0.7.0 “Charm” (Software for Controlling the Photo Camera via Computer) Has Been Released

As you may know, Entangle is an open-source software that allows the user to take photos with digital cameras, controlled from the computer.

The latest version available is Entangle 0.7.0 “Charm”, which has been recently released, bringing the below changes:

  • Require GLib >= 2.36
  • Import new logo design
  • Switch to using zanata.org for translations
  • Set default window icon
  • Introduce an initial help manual via yelp
  • Use shared library for core engine to ensure all symbols are exported to plugins
  • Add framework for scripting capture operations
  • Workaround camera busy problems with Nikon cameras
  • Add a plugin for repeated capture sequences
  • Replace progress bar with spinner icon

Entangle 0.7.0

Installation instructions:

Engangle is available via some third party PPA, so installing it on Ubuntu systems should not cause too many problems. Just add the PPA to your system, update the local repository index and install the entangle package:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:dhor/myway
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install entangle

Optional, to remove entangle, do:

$ sudo apt-get remove entangle

The installation instructions should work on all the supported Ubuntu systems and their derivatives: Ubuntu 15.10 Wily Werewolf, Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 17.3 Rosa, Linux Mint 17.2 Rafaela, Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pinguy OS 14.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Elementary OS 0.2 Luna, Deepin 2014, Peppermint 6, Peppermint 5, LXLE 14.04 and Linux Lite 2.
