As you may already know, HotShots is a lightweight screenshot tool with editing options. It has the same features as Shutter despite the fact that it is lighter. Also worth mentioning, it has image editing features (resize, crop, etc) and allows the users to easily upload their screenshots to FTP, imgur.com, imageshack.us and freeimagehosting.net.

The latest version available is Hotshots 2.2.0, which has been released a while ago,coming with a a few changes only:
- Restore last selection in region and freehand grabbing
- Add options to display or not dialog before/after download
Installation instructions:
Up to date packages are available via some third party PPA, so installing the software on Ubuntu systems should not cause too many problems.
All you need to do is add the PPA to your system, update the local repository index and install the hotshots package:

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install hotshots
Optional, to remove hotshots, do:
