Greg Kroah-Hartman has just announced that the Linux Kernel 4.1 will be a LTS (Long Term Support) version and will be supported for the next two years:
This is Greg KH’s Google+ announcement:
“New kernel release announcement, made from 30k feet, with Walter the Labradoodle sitting in the seat next to me and then falling asleep on my arm,”
“Also, now that 4.1 is out, time to announce that it will be the next ‘Long Term Support’ kernel I’ll be maintaining for the next two years. ”
Kernel 4.1 is still fresh, being released the past weekend, being installable on the latest Ubuntu and derivative systems.
