Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may remember, a while ago Canonical made an agrement with both Dell and HP, to sell laptops with Ubuntu pre-installed in many computer stores from China. Ubuntu’s popularity has grown over the last years, it is estimated to be about 25-30 million users of Ubuntu on the entire planet.
There are also other countries where laptops with Ubuntu pre-installed are available, like: India, Mexico, USA and Ukraine, from HP, Dell and Asus.
Dell laptops with Ubuntu pre-installed have been available in over 850 IT stores from India for one year now, and the selling are very good. Also in Ukrain, Dell’s ‘Ubuntu Test Zones’ promoted the Ubuntu experience as a 3D hologram, in order to give the users some information about the Dell computers with Ubuntu pre-installed. Over 280.000 Dell with Ubuntu units have been sold in the first two weeks of the campaing.
In Mexico, HP laptops with Ubuntu pre-installed are available in over one hundred stores and the selling numbers are really good, this increasing both HP’s and Canonical’s reputation, as strong companies.
Also Asus’s campain of selling their laptops with Ubuntu pre-installed on Amazon went well, reaching in top 100 sales for the month.
