Linux Mint 15 KDE And Linux Mint 15 XFCE Are Now Available For Testing

Hello Linux Geeksters. A few days ago, Linux Mint 15 Olivia with KDE and XFCE desktop environments pre-installed has been released for testing, by the Linux Mint developers.

As the ISO images names suggest, they are release candidates, not stable releases, so it is not advised to install them, unless you want to test new software. As you may know, Linux Mint 15 is based on Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail.

Linux Mint 15 KDE And Linux Mint 15 XFCE Are Now Available For Testing

According to the official Linux Mint 15 KDE release announcement, it will use KDE 4.10, MDM as the default display manager, just like Linux Mint 15 / 14 / 13, and benefit from the new Driver Manager, that has been released with Linux Mint 15.

Minimum requirements, for Linux Mint 15 KDE:

  • 1 GB of RAM
  • 8 GB of disk space
  • Graphics card capable of 1024×768 resolution
  • DVD drive or USB port

Linux Mint 15 XFCE, comes with XFCE 4.10, uses MDM as the default display manager and the Driver Manager tool, that has been released with Linux Mint 15 and has the main features of Linux Mint 15 Cinnamon / Mate. The official release announcement for Linux Mint 15 XFCE is here.

Minimum requirements, for Linux Mint 15 XFCE:

  • x86 processor (Linux Mint 64-bit requires a 64-bit processor. Linux Mint 32-bit works on both 32-bit and 64-bit processors).
  • 384 MB RAM (1GB recommended for a comfortable usage).
  • 5 GB of disk space
  • Graphics card capable of 800×600 resolution
  • DVD drive or USB port
