As you may know, the Linux Mint developers are maintaining both the regular version of Linux Mint, which is based on Ubuntu and Linux Mint Debian Edition, which is based on Debian Testing.

Despite the fact that the team’s main focus is on the Ubuntu-derivative, they did not neglect the Debian-based system either. The two systems are not synced, but the developers have started porting features from Linux Mint to LMDE.
Yesterday, LMDE 2 “Betsy” have started to receive updates for some of the Mint tools and the latest versions of MATE and Cinnamon, but the due to a server issue, the process was interrupted.
It is really good that the Linux Mint team gives their users a choise: Linux Mint Ubuntu for a more up to date system and LMDE for stability.
