As you already know, Cinnamon 1.8 (the default for Linux Mint 15) uses some Gnome applications, but the Linux Mint team is working at Cinnamon 2.0, which will be the first Cinnamon version that will have all the default applications developed by the Linux Mint developers.
Cinnamon 2.0 will be integrated in Linux Mint 16.
