Hello Linux Geeksters. In order to modernize their system, the Debian developers think of replacing the good old SysVinit with either RHEL’s systemd or Ubuntu’s Upstart, for a bigger number of features.

While systemd got implemented by default on many new Linux systems due to open-source software depending on services, Upstart is used only by Ubuntu. But since Debian and Ubuntu are alike and there are many Canonical employees at Debian, there are more chances to see Upstart as the default event organizer on the latest Debian systems.
The next Debian system, Debian 8.0 Jessie will more likely be implemented by default with SysVinit’s replacement. For those who don’t know, Debian Jessie will be released in 2015.
