Hello Linux Geeksters. As a reminder, the Debian technical committee has voted Red Hat’s systemd to be the default init system manager on Debian 8.0 Jessie.

Known the fact that the Debian members have discussed a lot about this change, and threw it to vote more than once, Canonical’s Mark Shuttleworth is supporting this decision and will ask the Ubuntu community to offer their help, in order to bring systemd to both Debian and Ubuntu.
While Ubuntu 14.04 is using Upstart, Canonical may adopt systemd, after it will be successfully ported to Debian Jessie.
For more information, see Mark Shuttleworth’s blog post.
