modRana Is A GPS Navigation App With Support For Jolla’s Sailfish OS

Hello Jolla Enthusiasts. As you may know, modRana is a GPS navigation application for mobile Linux devices. Among others, it has support for showing the current position and the direction of travel on the map, support for both landscapes and portraits, it allows the users to search both addresses and queries, via the OpenStreetMap data, support for Wikipedia search and support for detailed GPS info display.

The latest version available is modRana 0.45.3, which has been recently released.

Because it is available via OpenRepos.net, installing modRana 0.45.3 can be done via either Warehouse or by downloading the modrana rpm package and installing it directly from the file manager, by double-clicking the package. Download modRana.

For those who don’t know yet, Jolla is a project developed by former Nokia employees. The first Jolla smartphone is running on Sailfish OS, a modified Megoo Linux system, which is Android compatible, uses Wayland as the default display server , uses Nokia N9′s Maliit touchscreen keyboard and comes with interchangeable covers, allowing the users to easily switch them, in order to change the color/model of the phone and comes with impressive hardware specifications.
