As you may know, Jolla, pronounced “yoh-lah”, a company created by former Nokia developers has announced their first smartphone a while ago. The Jolla smartphones run on Sailfish OS, a Linux based operating system.
The developers have updated their Sailfish SDK and added Wayland, Qt5 and Qt Quick 2 support.
The target is to make an compatibility environment for Android, in order to have the Android GPU drivers running on Sailfish OS. Jolla’s first phone is interesting, since it comes with interchangeble covers, allowing the users to easily switch to a certain color or model, or just to change them whenever they get damaged.
