Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Stellarium is a free open-source planetarium app that gives massive amount of functionlities to every planetarium maniac. The latest version available is Stellarium 0.12.2, which has been recently released.

Among other features added, Stellarium 0.12.2 comes with repacked star catalogs, an improved search tool, a new version of Satellites plug-in, that allows the users to add sattelites from different sources. For a full list of improvements, see the official announcement.
In this article I will show you how to install Stellarium on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia and Linux Mint 13 Maya.
Because it is available via PPA, installing Stellarium on Ubuntu and Linux Mint is easy. All you have to do is:
Add the repository:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:stellarium/stellarium-releases
Update the system:
$ sudo apt-get update
Install Stellarium:
$ sudo apt-get install stellarium
