The First Alpha Version Of Ubuntu 14.04 Will Be Released Tomorrow

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, the first Alpha version of Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr will be released tomorrow, in the following flavours: Xubuntu, Edubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu GNOME and UbuntuKylin.

The First Alpha Version Of Ubuntu 14.04 Will Be Released Tomorror

In Ubuntu 14.04 Alpha 1, many packages have been updated to their latest stable version. Among others, Ubuntu 14.04 Alpha 1 runs on Kernel 3.12.0.7, comes with Firefox 25, Mesa 10.0, network-manager 0.9.8.4, alsa-utils 1.0.27 and xserver-xorg-video-intel 2.99.904.

The GNOME version comes with Gnome Shell 3.8 and uses some Gnome 3.10 packages, like: gnome-calculator, gnome-disk-utility, gnome-backgrounds, gnome-keyring and gnome-sudoku, while Xubuntu 14.04 Alpha 1 comes with XFCE 4.11 and Lubuntu 14.04 Alpha 1 comes with LXDE 0.6.1.

Release dates for the Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr versions:

  • Ubuntu 14.04 Alpha 1: the 19th of December, 2013
  • Ubuntu 14.04 Alpha 2: the 23rd of January, 2014
  • Ubuntu 14.04 Beta: the 27th of March, 2014
  • Ubuntu 14.04 Stable: the 17th of April, 2014
