Canonical has announced that the first stable build of Ubuntu Touch will be released on the 17th of October, in the same day with the Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander release.
As you may know, Canonical has been working hard for making Ubuntu Touch an important competitor to Google’s Android. For now, it officially supported only on the Google Nexus smartphones and tablets, but Ubuntu Touch has been successfully ported to many other devices, including Xperia Tablet Z and OPPO Find 5.
Because the Ubuntu Edge crowdfunding campaign did not succeed, Canonical has to partner up with some device makers in order to release phones with Ubuntu Touch preinstalled.
