The HPLIP 3.13.10 Printer Drivers Come With Support For Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander

HPLIP 3.13.10 has been recently released a while ago. As you may know, HPLIP comes from HP Linux Imaging and Printing, the generical Linux drivers for the HP printers.

The new HP Linux drivers are compatible with the following printers, and bring official support for Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander and OpenSUSE 13.1. For more information, see the official release notes.

In this article I will show you how to install HPLIP 3.13.10 on the Linux systems that have official support for it:

  • OpenSUSE 13.1, OpenSUSE 12.3 and OpenSUSE 12.2
  • Fedora 19, Fedora 18 and Fedora 17
  • Ubuntu 13.10, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx, Linux Mint 15 Olivia , Linux Mint 14 Nadia, Linux Mint 13 Maya and maybe Elementary OS 0.2 Luna
  • Debian Wheezy and Debian Squeeze

Because the HPLIP drivers come as a precompiled binary file, all you have to do is download the driver, set execution permissions and run the installer. Like this:

$ wget -c http://optimate.dl.sourceforge.net/project/hplip/hplip/3.13.10/hplip-3.13.10.run
$ sudo chmod +x hplip-3.13.10.run
$ ./hplip-3.13.10.run
