HPLIP 3.13.9 has been recently released a while ago. As you may know, HPLIP comes from HP Linux Imaging and Printing, the generical Linux drivers for the HP printers.
HPLIP 3.13.9 brings support for the following printers: HP Designjet Z5400 44-in PostScript ePrinter, HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 1018 Printer, HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 1518 All-in-One Printer, HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2540 All-in-One Printer Series, HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2545 All-in-One Printer, HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2546 All-in-One Printer, HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 4515 e-All-in-One Printer, HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 4518 e-All-in-One Printer, HP Envy 4504 e-All-in-One, HP LaserJet Pro MFP M435nw, HP Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One, HP Officejet 4632 e-All-in-One Printer, HP Officejet 4635 e-All-in-One Printer, HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Premium e-AiO N911n, HP Photosmart 5521 e-All-in-One Printer.
In this article I will show you how to install HPLIP 3.13.9 on the Linux systems that have official support for it:
- OpenSUSE 12.3 and OpenSUSE 12.2
- Fedora 19, Fedora 18 and Fedora 17
- Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx, Linux Mint 15 Olivia , Linux Mint 14 Nadia, Linux Mint 13 Maya and maybe Elementary OS 0.2 Luna
- Debian Wheezy and Debian Squeeze
Because the HPLIP drivers come as a precompiled binary file, all you have to do is download the driver, set execution permissions and run the installer. Like this:
$ wget -c wget http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/hplip/hplip-3.13.9.run
$ sudo chmod +x hplip-3.13.9.run
$ ./hplip-3.13.9.run
