As you may know, Valve has big plans regarding Linux gaming and is engaged in ambitious projects: SteamOS, a Linux based system for gaming, Steam Machine, gaming consoles that runs SteamOS, and Steam Controller, a gaming controller for SteamOS and Steam Machine.

Recently, Valve has created a demo video of the Steam controller.
But the main problem is that gamepads did not evolve over the years, being a must only for certain game types. For example there isn’t any good controller for shooter games that require good aiming and quick movements.
When the Steam controller was first announced, it was described as the first gamepad for Counter Strike and other shooters.
But the mouse and keyboard cannot be replaced by any controller yet. Now, shooters and RTS games are best played with mice and keyboards, despite the fact that Valve’s Steam controller tries to change this.
