As you may know, Canonical has recently created a Video Driver PPA, enabling the Ubuntu and derivative users to install the latest GPU proprietary drivers.

The community appreciated this new initiative because all the drivers from the default Ubuntu repositories are old. Also, System76 and Feral Interaction, which are two Ubuntu computer manufacturers are happy with the new repository.
For now, it only contains Nvidia drivers, but AMD ones should also be included. To add the PPA and update the repository index, do:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa
$ sudo apt-get update
