Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr Will Switch To Kernel 3.13 RC 7 Soon

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr is still under massive development, being scheduled for release on the 17th of April, 2014.

A while ago, the Ubuntu developers have announced that the future Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr images will be released with Kernel 3.13 RC 7.

Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr Will Switch To Kernel 3.13 RC 7 Soon

Since Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr is a LTS (long term supported) version, most likely it will be released with Kernel 3.13 stable, but we may even see Kernel 3.14, if there won’t be too many release candidates and Canonical will have enough time to test it.

If Ubuntu 14.04 sticks to Kernel 3.13, the Ubuntu developers will need to back-port many Kernel 3.14 patches on Kernel 3.13, since they need updates support for Intel Broadwell, open-source graphics drivers and file-system improvements.
