Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Canonical has been working a lot lately at Ubuntu 15.04, Mir, Unity and Ubuntu Touch.
Recently, Kernel 3.18.2 has been implemented on Ubuntu 15.04, but the final version of the system will most likely ship with Kernel 3.19.
From the mailing lists:
“Both the master and master-next branches of our Vivid kernel have been rebased to the v3.18.2 upstream stable kernel. This has also be uploaded to the archive, ie. 3.18.0-9.10. Please test and let us know your results. We are also starting to track the v3.19 kernel on our unstable branch and have pushed preliminary packages to our ppa,” Canonical’s Joseph Salisbury.
On Ubuntu systems, the kernel versions are chosen before the kernel freeze, development stage reaches and one or to kernel iterations that may get released, between the freeze and the official release, are ignored by Canonical. Depending on the kernel release schedule, kernel 3.19 or even kernel 3.20 will be used.
