Hello Linux Geeksters. Mark Shuttleworth has confirmed at the Ubuntu Developer Summit (UDS 14.03) that Unity 8, which will be most likely used by default starting with Ubuntu 14.10 (desktop), will come with a new internet browser, developed by Canonical.

Canonical’s browser, “the best in the world” according to Mark Shuttleworth, will be most likely based on WebKit and will have a lot of HTML5 and JavaScript optimizations.
Also at the UDS 14.03, other important changes have been announced, the most importat (to my mind) being this two:
- Mir will be set as default, starting with Ubuntu 16.04, but will be already usable on Ubuntu 14.10
- Ubuntu 16.04 will adopt systemd, like Debian
