Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, VLC 2.1.1 has been released yesterday. This comes only with some security fixes and optimizations. There is no official changelog available yet.

In this article I will show you how to install VLC 2.1.1 on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander and Linux Mint 16 Petra.
Because it has been added to the VLC Stable PPA about 17 hours ago, VLC 2.1.1 can be easilly installed on Ubuntu 13.10 and Linux Mint 16. All you have to do is:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:videolan/stable-daily
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install vlc
The VLC stable PPA contains VLC 2.0.8 for Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pear OS 8 and Elementary OS 0.2 Luna. If you want to install VLC 2.0.8 on this systems, just follow the commands for Ubuntu Saucy/Linux Mint Petra.
