Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, VLC 2.2.0 codename Weatherwax has been released a while ago, coming with a few interesting new features. It got ported to Qt5 and comes with support for extensions and third-party plugins, via the Addons Manager named “Plugins and Extensions” (which gets data from addons.videolan.org), enabling the users to easily install and remove plugins.
In this article I will show you how to install VLC 2.2.0 on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr.
Because it is available via the VLC Daily PPA, installing VLC 2.2.0 on Ubuntu 14.04 is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update local repository index and install the vlc package. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:videolan/master-daily
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install vlc
