While Debian Jessie Will Be Using XFCE As Default, The Developers Are Discusing On Wether To Make GNOME 3.14 Or GNOME 3.12 Via Available The Default Repositories

Hello Linux Geeksters. As a reminder, Debian 8.0 Jessie will be the first Debian system to use Red Hat’s systemd as the default init system manager. For now, it uses XFCE as the default desktop environment and most likely the lightweight DE will be also used as default on the stable version.

But GNOME will be also available via the default repositories of Debian Jessie. While GNOME 3.10 will be skipped, the question is if the developers manage to implement GNOME 3.14, or use the not so new GNOME 3.12.

While Debian Jessie reaches the freeze on the 5th of November 2014, GNOME 3.14 will be officially released in mid-September so it may become available, via the default repositories.
