Whisker is an and innovative alternative for the XFCE default menu, including a modern search bar and enabling users to easily access all the installed apps from the system, or access applications by categories. It also remembers the last 10 used applications. The Whisker Menu is the default application menu for Linux Mint 15 XFCE.

The latest version available is Whisker 1.1.0, which was recently updated, receiving some improvements like: allowing the user to set a keyboard shortcut for launching the menu. For a full list of changes, see this page.
In this article I will show you how to install Whiesker 1.1.0 on Xubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Xubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Xubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal and Xubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin.
Instructions for installing Whisker 1.1.0 on Xubuntu 13.10/13.04/12.10/12.04 and Linux Mint 16/15/14/13 running XFCE 4.8:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gottcode/gcppa
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin
To install Whisker 1.1.o on Xubuntu 12.04 with XFCE 4.10, do:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:landronimirc/xfce
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin
